Game Audio Lab

Sallee Sound Academy

Game Audio Lab

Coming Soon

Learn to design, implement and deliver interactive audio through practical experiments, production challenges and professional game-audio workflows.

Four ways to build game-audio skills

The Lab combines sound creation, implementation thinking and professional workflow. Start with focused experiments, then bring the skills together in larger production challenges.

Create

Design footsteps, impacts, environments, UI sounds, dialogue assets and interactive music that are ready for implementation.

Implement

Explore events, states, parameters, randomisation, attenuation and adaptive systems using middleware and game-engine workflows.

Think Interactively

Learn to decide what should loop, randomise, react to player position, respond to gameplay and change with game state.

Work Professionally

Practise asset naming, versioning, optimisation, documentation, QA, hand-off and collaboration with designers and developers.

How the Lab works

From quick experiments to portfolio projects

Quick Experiments

Short, focused activities that isolate one practical skill — for example building a randomised footstep system or creating a small set of UI sounds.

Lab Challenges

Longer practical briefs combining several skills, such as creating and implementing an interactive environment or designing adaptive music for changing gameplay intensity.

Production Projects

Bring the workflow together in multi-session projects that move from brief to asset creation, implementation, testing and delivery.

Start with these six labs

The first collection is designed to move from fundamentals into complete interactive-audio thinking.

  1. Game Audio Fundamentals — understand the difference between linear and interactive audio and begin thinking in systems.
  2. Footstep System — create variations, introduce randomisation and respond to different surfaces.
  3. Interactive Environment — build ambience using layers, emitters, zones and spatial behaviour.
  4. UI Sound Design — create a coherent palette of interface sounds with clear functional hierarchy.
  5. Adaptive Music — explore stems, states, transitions and intensity-based musical systems.
  6. Game Audio Production Challenge — take a supplied scene from brief through asset creation, implementation and delivery.

Build audio that responds to the player

Develop the creative, technical and collaborative skills used to make sound work inside interactive experiences.
